Google Glasses team up with DVF.

I was surprised to see that DVF had teamed up with Google at New York Fashion Week. Several DVF models were seen walking down the catwalk wearing the Google glasses.

I wouldn't personally describe them as the "latest fashion accessory" but am interested to see the documentary they are putting together as a result of the collaboration.

Orange to match the outfit!

The glasses enable users to take photos, send and receive SMS, gives directions and much more. This promotional video below highlights some of the glasses key functions. Seems all a bit to futuristic for my liking but we'll see.

Mo Farah strikes again.

So I don’t want to make you all jealous but I was indeed one of the 80,000 people who witnessed Mo Farah sprint his way to that second gold medal.  I have never experienced an atmosphere quite like it.

The gun went and that was it, for the next 13 minutes 41.66 seconds the crowd really were going mad. There was the most amazing 12 year old kid behind me screaming so loudly his parents kept apologising. Mo Farah said afterwards how "It just got louder and louder.  It reminded me of when you go to a football match and somebody scores a goal - wow." I discussed in a post a while back how I found the passion from football fans quite overwhelming and I didn’t quite understand it but on this occasion there was a tremendous sense of anticipation and excitement which was shared by everyone in the crowd who were willing Mo to win.

If you looked around the stadium it was literally a 12 lap Mexican wave with GB flags going crazy every time Mo Farah approached. Initially Mo was at the back of the pack but then he made his move and kept on moving until he was at the front.

Mo at the back of the pack!....
But not for long!
By the time he commenced his final lap the stadium was erupting and the screams were just getting louder and louder, as Mo went faster and faster - it was extraordinary.

Once my father had got over the emotion/excitement and exhaustion of Farah’s win he pointed out we will always be able to say we were there when Mo Farah won his second gold and I can safely say I will never forget that moment.

Well done Mo!
Hello Gold Medals.

London 2012 Olympics - picture time.

There is no denying that the London 2012 Olympic Games were a huge success. I’ve been to my fair share of sporting events but they all seem insignificant compared with the Olympics.

The first event we went to was the beach volleyball and we left feeling rather boring that we weren’t dressed up – everyone was well and truly getting into the GB spirit.

As a result my family and I decided to go all out and invest in some Team GB T-shirts.  I thought I’d share a few from the family album.

Excited much?
Outside the Stadium.
One of the Olympic volunteers - he actually requested this photo with us!

And of course the famous "Mobot" after Mo Farah's win!

Adidas Team GB Sing-a-long.

Love this Adidas video featuring Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and many more Team GB stars, singing “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

They really were a successful bunch collecting an impressive 65 medals – 29 of them gold, so why not celebrate with a Queen rendition.

Photoshop Magic

Seriously excited to announce I have finally learnt how to edit on photoshop. This is something I have genuinely wanted to know how to do for ages.

I managed to get Photoshop through work and that was that I got hooked.

Having just been to the Olympics my first edit had to be with the GB flag and the results are as follows……

With the family at the Olympic Park.
My brother and I ready and waiting for the Beach Volleyball.

On an Olympic note I have absolutely loved every single minute of it and can assure you some Olympic blog posts will follow. Tonight has been the first night without Olympic coverage and I’m lost – what did we all do before?

Met Gala 2012

For those of you who haven’t spent the past couple days’ admiring the stunning dresses worn at the 2012 Met Gala then here’s an opportunity for you to do so.

I can genuinely look at these dresses time and time again - the good, the bad and the ugly, I love them all.

Here are a few of my personal favourites. Enjoy!

Colour colour and more colour. I really love January Jones in this yellow number and of course the on trend peplum detail.

Quite often I find that black dresses never really stand out on the red carpet or in photos but of course Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will never fail to pull off a look. I love the combination of her sleek hairdo and high necked dress!

And of course where would we be without Beyonce's statement dress!

London Life

I know I mentioned in previous posts that I have moved to London but I can officially say that I love London living. For starters it’s just so nice not having to wake up then spend the next 1hr30 of my life rammed onto a train with commuters.

Secondly I have finally re-joined the gym – something which whilst commuting was seriously lacking in my life. Even more exciting is that David Gandy – yes the beautiful David Gandy goes to the same gym. I can safely say this has been one of my London’s highlights!

Definitely works out!!!
Aside from David Gandy in the gym there is of course the whole city at our disposal to explore. Even better is that exploring doesn’t have to involve spending lots of money.  My friends and I have ventured to both Spitalfields and Borough Markets. Both of which made me feel like I was on holiday surrounded by fellow tourists.

Some seriously impressive street entertainment!
The highlight of Spitalfields had to be wandering into what we thought was a kooky shop but turned out being a multi-storey car park which at the weekend transforms itself into a collection of stores selling an array of clothing/jewelling/household bits and so on.

We then stumbled across the food section at which point that was it – the healthy eating was out the window and it was Burrito time! Quite literally one of the largest Burrito’s you’ve ever seen. When seeing the Burrito you’d think we’d consider sharing but oh no, each one of us tucked in and quite literally demolished the entire thing.

Funnily enough Borough Markets was another scrap the healthy eating day. As a serious cheese lover it was extremely hard to me no to have one of these cheese sandwiches.

Cheese and I actually managed to resist!
I did of course have a fair few tasters throughout the day, along with a collection of delicious meats, dried fruit, olives and so on. All of which we accompanied with a lovely glass of Prosecco.

After we were sufficiently stuffed and if I’m honest painfully full we headed to the River walking past the Globe, The Tate and across Millennium Bridge to St Pauls Cathedral.

Tourists in disguise....
The main reason we headed to St Paul’s was for a glass of champagne on the roof terrace of One New Change but we got distracted for a good hour in Topshop and never made it up there! Next time I guess!!!!

Buckingham Palace

A couple weeks ago I ventured to Buckingham Palace to see the "Face of Britain" projection and thought I’d whack some of my photos up.

The campaign is hoping to break a Guinness World Records for the ‘most artists working on the same art installation'. They have got a total of 200,000 self portraits created by children aged 11-18 projected onto Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Summer Garden Parties

With the sun beginning to shine on a more regular basis, I have begun to get excited at the prospect of cute little garden parties.

Believe it or not my new house does in fact have a tiny little garden. We won’t be able to entertain the masses or hold any raves but I can definitely picture some nice summer BBQ’s.

In my last post I mentioned a shop called Anthropologie. It’s quite literally my favourite place at the moment.
Anthropologie's home section.
Last weekend my friends and I popped into one of their London stores and these just grabbed my attention.

The psychedelic patterns are just amazing and I immediately pictured them laid out on the garden table with the sun shining.

Personally I think it’s all about going as colourful and as fun as possible.  So why not add these steak knives and glasses into the mix.

Interior Design Fun

So it's confession time. Along with the Daily Mail online, (it’s just a must for your daily gossip fix) I do spend a lot of my free time trawling the internet looking at interior design stuff. With this weekend being the official move into my new London pad, I thought I’d share with you all a few of my favourite items.

Bed throws.
Now I must admit finding the right bed throw is a challenge. I have spent hours trying to find one I love and I think, courtesy of Anthropologie, I may have it.

I hope you all agree it's a rather nice quilt. I literally cannot wait to move in and see how it looks. Here are a few more bits I've found, sadly none of which I can afford to buy.

Both found on: www.grahamandgreen.co.uk

You can't go wrong with a bit of classic monochrome from Kelly Hoppen. http://www.kellyhoppenretail.com/

Finally some nice fun posters to tie it all together. These were found on http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/

Audrey Hepburn quote to make you smile.

So exciting news people… I am officially moving into London! Loving London life already, so actually being here full time is going to be even better. Whilst getting rather excited by cute interior bits and bobs I stumbled across this lovely wall sticker.

"I BELIEVE IN PINK.
I BELIEVE THAT LAUGHING IS THE BEST CALORIE BURNER.
I BELIEVE IN KISSING, KISSING A LOT.
I BELIEVE IN BEING STRONG WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE GOING WRONG.
I BELIEVE THAT HAPPY GIRLS ARE THE PRETTIEST GIRLS.
I BELIEVE THAT TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY AND I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES."
Audrey Hepburn

Sadly I don’t think the landlord would be best please to see a string of words stuck onto the wall but it really does make me smile.

I love how a simple phrase or quote can leave you feeling in good spirits and an all round happier mood. Thanks Audrey/www.notonthehighstreet.com.

The Guardian.

I can't think of a time where I have seen a newspaper really promoting itself through TV commercials but the latest attempt by the Guardian is just brilliant.

The main story line is taken from the 3 Little Pigs nursery rhyme and has been adapted to relate to the 21st century.
The storyline is based on real life day to day issues but in a satirical way - I even found myself laughing when the poor pigs were struggling to keep up with their mortgage payments!

During the commercial you also see the Guardian highlighting the impact and influence social media has on current affairs and news stories.
The power of social media (twitter/blogs/facebook) has become an increasingly important tool in journalistic practices.

BA - Olympic's commercial "The Race"

So once again BA have put together a brilliant commercial - this time round inspired by the forthcoming Olympic Games.

I love the use of traditional sports commentary to track the luggage.

"and they’re off"/"this is anyone’s race at the moment"/"neck and neck"/"the world champion blowing away the field" and "the favourites the USA" - even BA can't deny that when it comes to the Olympics they often are.

It may be based around luggage but hearing the commentary instantly gets me excited about London 2012. Certainly an exciting summer for the UK.

Carling Cup Final

Wow the Carling Cup Final really was exciting - 2-2 at the final whistle, 2-2 at the end of extra time and then finally a penalty shoot out. To add to it all in the penalties Steven Gerrard was the first to shoot and he failed to score – shock horror and quite possibly tears for the thousands of Liverpool supporters. It was incredibly tense.
The match really was quite an eye opener. Firstly there was the tube ride into Wembley Park. I know commuting can be stressful and horribly busy but this was another level and somehow to the delight of my Welsh relatives we were on a train full of Cardiff supporters. I was thrilled to see that my rather “on trend” electric blue jeans meant I blended right on in and was presumed to be a Cardiff fan too. Although unsurprisingly I didn’t know any of their chants and even if I had, the Welsh accent was proving quite overwhelming. As far as I was concerned it was a lot of tone deaf males shouting what they hoped was something similar to their friends/fellow supporters.
I have never wholeheartedly supported a sport with that same devotion football fans do. It's one of those sports you don’t support because you play it, you support because it's in your family…its expected of you…it's in your DNA......I looked around during the game and it was certainly nerve-racking but my goodness it looked like it was a matter of life or death to the supporters. When one set of supporters was celebrating the others were holding their head in their hands!

I had the luxury of sitting in Club Wembley with a combination of supporters from both sides. As a result it has a strict no football shirts policy and is theoretically “neutral” ground. Well I can certainly say that everyone’s allegiance was well known from kick off! This was unmistakably highlighted when goal numero 1 was scored. Now Sunday was a bit of a family outing as my cousins from Wales came especially for the match and WOW if only I could have filmed their reaction when Cardiff scored the first goal. For starters I think they were quick to realise the majority of Club Wembley surrounding them were Liverpool supporters. I imagine I’d show a similar reaction if I won the lottery but this was simply the first goal. As they jumped for joy, spun around, pumped fists up in the air, high fived one another and hugged it was clear they were Cardiff fans and there was no disguising it.
So that’s fine they are guys but when Liverpool finally won and I turned around to determine where this ear piercing shrieking was coming from, I was shocked to see a rather well dressed 20 something girl behind me who was in fact crying. I mean is this really necessary? And why was her reaction like so many this dramatic?
I get sport and I love it but this whole football craze does shock me and I find it a bit scary. The money people spend to support their teams is huge. Maybe the players should be using some of their HUGE salaries to help fund their supporters supporting costs? It's not just the costs but the time and distance people travel to go watch to. Liverpool fans were even having to get on replacement buses due to the trains being cancelled!
Anyways despite the rant I loved the game and it goes without saying the atmosphere at Wembley is just fantastic. It’s an extremely well managed venue and a wonderful experience being there for such a big event.

Australian Open 2012

In case you didn’t watch or haven’t already been told by a friend/family Sunday’s Australian Open final was truly spectacular. Not only was it an absolutely epic five-setter that went five hours 53 minutes but it has also gone down in history as one of the longest matches ever. On this one occasion it really was the taking part that counts. After gaining the title Djokovic noted, "It was the longest Grand Slam final of all time. Just hearing that fact makes me cry," highlighting the emotion of it all.

could happily continue writing about the match itself because it was exceptional, but….I actually wanted to draw your attention to another moment in the match. RAIN DELAY. Unlike the infamous moments at Wimbledon when the rather well built British boys come running out with covers, the moments witnessed during Sunday’s final were somewhat surprising.

Who would have thought that the job description for the Australian ball kids in the unlikely incident of rain (it is their summer) required them to get down on hands and knees with towels and wipe the court dry! It really did crack me up - so much so I had to pause and take photos.

Ball boys drying the courts!

Nokia Lumia 800 lights up London.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when we were all comparing our latest Nokia phones. It was quite simply the phone to have. I remember the adjustable covers which formed a constant discussion point at school. I do believe my first nokia was the almighty 3210 – oh what a phone!

Sadly for Nokia their domination is no more. It’s hard to miss the fact everyone seems to be walking around with the latest blackberry/iphone. Putting that aside they are trying hard to get themselves back out there.

I have previously blogged about their “The Amazing Everyday” commercial but today I want to introduce their incredible light display. I don’t quite know why I haven’t blogged this yet – its not because I’ve only just watched it. I have shown it to many of my friends wishing I’d be there to witness it.

The 4D projection show really is spectacular and with the addition of Deadmaus dj-ing it certainly grabs an audience – not only those present but the nearing 3 million people who have watched it online. I think full marks are to be given to Nokia.

The Boyfriend

Apologies but that thing called Christmas has meant my blogging has kind of died down the last few weeks. In my last post I introduced the wonderful gift given to me by a close friend and now is the time to introduce my wonderful hand made boyfriend.

Along with the help of my cousin I made him one evening in front of the TV. Now I must admit that just as finding a boyfriend has its challenges, making one is equally tricky!  The problem with his plasticine form is that too much handling means he begins to melt so the whole moulding and creative process proved rather challenging.

Despite this I must admit I think we did a pretty good job. People have questioned the choice of a centre parting and it might seem a rather old fashioned option but I preferred it to the quiff or spike styles suggested. I guess a centre parting will just have to suffice.

As you can see below the set even came with a rather stunning scene. I am suspicious about this particular photo as it seems to include a poster of another lady. Aside from that I’d like to think my boyfriend is the perfect gentleman – he even brought flowers!
